New UL Security and Signaling Marks

UL has adopted a set of three Listing Marks for products evaluated for security and signaling application. The new Marks clearly identify the purpose for which the product was evaluated: security, signaling, or both security and signaling. This change will simplify the job of authorities having jurisdiction by making the meaning of the UL Listing Marks in the area of security and signaling direct and clear:

As in the sample marks below, the new Security & Signaling Marks contain 5 components.

  • The UL Symbol.
  • The following words appear above the UL Symbol, singly or in combination according to the purpose for which the product was evaluated: SECURITY, SIGNALING, or SECURITY/SIGNALING.
  • The word LISTED, below the UL Symbol.
  • The product identity, which is listed in close proximity to the UL Symbol.
  • A four-character control number.
